The members of GLYC are very involved with organized - as well as unorganized sailing activities. We believe we have a wonderful asset in our backyards, and enjoying this beautiful lake day in and day out is what highlights our summer. This 9,418 acre lake is oriented southwest to northeast with a lower gull and upper gull region. The lower half of the lake starts at Wilson's Bay and goes approximately 10 miles northeast - to the start of the upper gull channels and lake region (CoRd. 77). The width of the lake is approximately 3 miles across at the hole-in-the-day area. It is an excellent lake that can have very strong winds, because of its size.
48th Annual Fun Regatta (Learn about the most recent regatta race results for 2007 - 47th Annual Fun Regatta.)
This is one of our biggest events that draws many boats in from the five state region. Friday, August 1st - Starting at 3 p.m. is registration and the 2nd and 3rd are the race days and festivities. Banquet on Saturday evening (3rd) can range from catered in food from local restaurants to going to one of the restaurants - and basically taking over the establishment. It's a lot of fun!!!!
